Hope, hope everywhere
Lighting the world like a candle
only too be found amid the carnage of war.
And only among these ruins the pieces of a rage filled people emerges as a prayer in the black night.
To be sewn together by the tiny hands of heroes.

On a dark and stormy night a small girl knocks on the church door. The father opened the door and lets her in.
Father: a child… come in
He leads her down a well furnished hall and into a fire side room.
Father: you can sit here until your room is ready. Would you like something to eat?
Anica: no thank you father
Father: very well
They wait for a bit and Anica looks around board
Bantum enters: the room is ready father
Father: Bantum please take her too her room and see to any needs she may have.
Bantum: yes father
They leave
Bantum: so…. why are you here?
Anica: none of your business hobbit
Bantum: I was just asking……
Anica: well don’t
Bantum is quiet for a bit
Anica: so pretty snazzy place you got here
Bantum: The monks have friends in high places, well here's your room, good night *cheesy smile*

A small train station, Lydia and Gwen stand on the platform talking and Giggling.
Lydia’s dad: ready to go Lydia, Gwen?
Lydia: yes papa
Lydia's dad: Gwen, you have been like a daughter to me. I was so glad when your father asked me to take care of you.
Every one's crying
Lydia’s dad takes the girls into his arms: It’ll be quite with out you girls around
Lydia: who will do your cooking papa?
Gwen: and your laundry?
Lydia’s father: It will be a long time until I see you again. And I want you know how much I love you both. I’m so proud that you are going to Iiverrts! Just think no more war sirens! *he kisses the top of their heads*
Conductor: All aboard!
The children get on the train blowing kisses
Lydia: well this should be interesting.
Gwen: What if I don’t get high enough grades?
Lydia: Gwen you’re the smartest person I know!
Gwen: I must work hard and study every night!
Lydia: Gwen, you have to take time for fun!
Gwen: I will
Lydia: Gwen?
Gwen: yes?
Lydia thought bubble- I wonder why she’s so obsessed with being the best
Lydia: I just wanted to…. Never mind
Gwen: well I hope you brought a good book?
Lydia: no, why?
Gwen: it’s a 9 hour train ride
Lydia’s mouth hangs open

In the dead of the night Anica gets up and starts stealing things from the church. She's so busy she doesn’t notice Bantum who sneaks up beside her.
Bantum: couldn’t sleep?
Anica jumps: oh he didn’t see you there.
Bantum: so you’re a thief?
Anica: you gunna tell on me?
Bantum: not if you put every thing back and confess your sins!
Anica: Will that help feed my starving family? Will that make this god forsaken war stop!?
Bantum: well…
Anica: when god decides to listen then, and only then I will prey until; then I’m gunna find food whatever way I can.
Bantum: You leave me no choice!
Anica throws her bag of stuff at him and hurls a candle stick at him. They make a loud clattering noise and the door bursts open. Anica has disappeared and Bantum stands alone with the bang and candle stick.

Bantum: its not how it looks father!
Father I took you in because your wrench of a mother begged me to and you repay my kindness like this! All these years I’ve been nothing but kind!
Bantum mumbles: nothing, you’ve done nothing for me!
Father: why should I your parents where traitors! They where magicians carrying out the work of the devil.
Bantum: Leave my parents out of this!
Father: I knew you where contaminated with their evil! I tried to save you but you were born evil so evil you will be! *he goes over to Bantum and grabs him by the hair and drags him away. Bantum looks into the shadows where Anica is, she winces.*

The sun is rising as Gwen peers out the window, Lydia lies opposite her sleeping on Gwen's math book Gwen pulls out her journal and starts writing.

Bantum sits in a cell listening to the preacher
Father: Who among us will be saved?! Come my brothers and Sisters eat the holey bread! Drink the holey wine!

September 1 Sunday
I think the thing I miss most about home is church. Sounds wired right? Well… I do miss it because out here, on my own I hardly have time to believe. Which is defiantly the most important thing. Weather you believe in god, gods or human kind faith and hope are the foundations which lives are built.

A sunny train station, Kalim and Erika along with a few hundred other people stand waiting for a train.
Old man: who do we have here? A few runaways?
Kalim : non of your business old man!
Old man: Off to get married? Ah I remember young love! So free and jovial
Kalim : shut up! I’m not her boyfriend!
Old man: well then why do you have this strapping young lady with you?
Kalim : She's not mine! *clutches tight to a book*
Erika: I’m Erika, Kalim my brother is escorting me to my finishing school in the east, then heading to join up. *gives Kalim a sour look*
Old man smiles: yes it very dangerous for women to travel alone now a days
Erika thought bubble- what century does he live in?
Erika: yes it is. Especially close to the borders of Maait where my school is.
Kalim wanders away to check train times.
Old man: I’d watch that brother of yours if I were you.
Erika: I will sir
Old man: quiet a tongue on that kid.
On the train Erika slaps Kalim : God what’s your problem!
Kalim : He could have bee a spy.
Erika: he was a 60 year old man!
Kalim : Your point….?
Erika: he was being civil which is more than I can say for you!
Kalim : shut up
Erika: What’s your problem!
Kalim : nothing

In the dead of the night Anica gets up and makes her way to the chapel she picks up the gold candle stick and thoughts of Bantum swim in her mind.
Why didn’t he say it was me?
Why did he give himself up like that?
Does he think he's some kind of saint or something?!
Mutters: This can’t be good for my reputation.
She turns and walks quickly into the jail. Rummaging in her bag she wakes Bantum up.
Bantum: oh look the thief is back, come to steal something else?
Anica: I’m not the one behind bars.
Bantum: shut up
Anica rummages in her bag again and pulls out a fan she holds it to the bars as if measuring.
Bantum: what are you doing?
Anica: busting you out, now stand back!
Bantum: What?
She swings and cuts the bars and pulls them back.
Anica turns to leave checking a pocket watch.

Anica opens the window and drops down gently Bantum looking confused follows suit except he lands in a big snow bank.
Anica snickers: nice…
Bantum: shut up, *she puts a hand over his mouth. And duck into a alley. They run deep into the woods until they find a rail road track. A train rush’s past*
Bantum : What are we doing!??
Anica: I had to pick the @#$%ing coldest night to do this!
Bantum : I can’t feel my eye brows!
Anica: Idiot *throws a pair of mittens at him and he catches them*
Bantum : So where are we going?
Anica: We? No where. Me? Mait boarding school
Bantum but where am I going to go!?
Anica: away…fine I guess you can come with me but you can’t be bothersome.
Bantum: Kay
Anica: shhhh, I think… that’s it!
A train rush’s past and blinding white snow swirls around them. They run and Bantum grabs hold of a rail. Anica throws him the luggage and he stows it beside him on the platform. She runs toward him but trips she reaches out to him in the snow.
Daren : Anicahhhhhhhhhhhhh
The last panel in the sequence is the palm of Bantums hand reaching out to Anica

Erika: Why do I always have to be the nice one?
Kalim : Because I’m bitter and I hate being perky and nice.
Erika: he was just asking questions!
Kalim rolls his eyes: yeah, spy’s ask questions all the time
Erika: your impossible
The old man enters the compartment

Anica opens the window and drops down gently Bantum looking confused follows suit except he lands in a big snow bank.

The old man enters the compartment

Lydia sleeps and Gwen looks out the window to the same forest that is the back drop to the last scene (Anica + Bantum) there is snow and more snow passing the window. Gwen starts a book of sudokus. She casts it aside board and starts walking around the cramped room. She looks at the sky and then at Lydia.Gwen: where do you come from Lydia? I’m sure your not human!

The woods Anica picks her self up after falling in the snow and the train races on threw the angry white storm.
Anica: Dam it
she starts running away from the train.
Threw the forest she sprints over a little wooden bridge and across a frozen over pond.
Anica: god I hope this pond is… *it cracks* great…
She runs and comes to a cliff the ground shakes she lands on top of the train. Walking over the top she has to fight to stand up and walk forward because of the wind. She finds a sky light and peers into see Bantum asleep.
Anica: Aw he didn’t stay awake to help me the little…..
The sky light comes open and she drops down waking Bantum up. He starts
Bantum : I’m sorry Ani! I was just so tired and worried
Anica: this is why I always have a back up plan.
Bantum : uh hu
Anica: go back to sleep we did good
Bantum : I knew you’d make it.
*he falls asleep and she pulls out a golden candle stick*
Anica: he will kill me if he know I still have this….

Man: I’m not interrupting a siblings quarrel am I?
Erika: No not at all
Man: all the other compartments are full.
Kalim : Oh great. *Erika gives him a dirty look*
Man: Hey I’ve seen that book!
Kalim clutches it tighter
Man: That’s a, a *whispers* sage book.
Kalim : It’s my grandmothers cook book see *opens it and its full of recipes*
Man: I never knew a boy who liked to cook
Erika's thought bubble- It’s not the bronze age!
Man eyes Kalim up: Its not a cook book!
Kalim: yeah it is!
Man: no… you must be a sagen! Magic is illegal! I’ll call the military! But Sages' never travel together….you *he looks at Erika* ……..
Man: that book is a possession of the devil! Your just pawns in the game of sin! Your dammed to hell! *Erica blocks the door.*
Kalim: I’m already in hell. *pain flashes in his eyes candles, fire and lightning illuminates the black iris of his eyes*
Last panel in this sequence is the barrel of Erika's gun

Lydia sleeps but Gwen jumps when a shot is heard and stands by the door looking ready to fight. Lydia still snores away.

*a loud shot is heard and Bantum wakes*
Anica gets up and runs over to the door. It is banged open and a tall woman in a military uniform stands leading a tall brown haired girl and a pale black haired guy.
Woman: Until we stop and drop off more passengers you’ll have to share a cabin. Well I could ask these two to leave. *she eyes up Anica and Daren * I guess it’ll have to do Ca…
Erika interrupts: Naw they where here first. We can stay here if its ok with them?
Anica nods. The woman leaves. Anica and Bantum clear their things off the bench opposite them. Erika and Kalim sit down.
Bantum looks scared. Anica grabs Kalim 's cheek and leans over examining his face: so what’s your Name kid?
*Kalim slaps her hand away… And a twitch forms on his head.*
Kalim: don’t touch me!
Anica: sooorry
Erika: oh don’t mind Kalim… he is just a little grumpy
Anica: oh ummm I’m Anica by the way
Erika: I’m Erika and of course you've had the…. Well you’ve already met Mr. grumpy pants
Bantum snickers: grumpy pants?
Kalim who is sitting beside Erika reaches over and slaps him on the side of his head: there's nothing wrong with my pants
Erika: except their ugly…
*Anica Erika and Bantum laugh as Kalim turns away and pulls a rubix cube out of his pocket and twists it around.*

Anica looks at Erica: Okay…. Care to explain?
The seen goes the man standing with his gun pointed at Erica
Erica: long story short this guy accused me and Kalim here of being spy’s.
Man I know who you are! Your that flame child and he’s your sage master!
Kalim: Let her go. She may be a pain in the ass but she’s my last tie to our village And I’ll be dammed if
I lose her!
Man *spins around*: You speak of damnation!? You who’s life revolves around the demon witchcraft of
magic. Your headed for hell. * Kalim reaches out and lowers the gun with his hand. With a pained
look in his eyes*
Kalim : I’m ready in hell.
Erika: he threatened to kill us and almost did. But when he shot at us the curtain burst into flames and the hole compartment caught fire.
*Man breaks him eye contact and fires a bullet into the wall above Kalim’s head. The curtains light on
fire. Erika screams. She opens the door and screams for the army on the train*
Anica: that sounds scary.
Erika thought bubble- I hate lying all the time.
Bantum: hey why did that lady almost kick us out just so you would be happy?
* Kalim looks up from his rubix cube*
Kalim : There’s money in my family. The cabin we where in was first class. The lady didn’t want us to sue for a tramitization or losing our comfy room.
Anica: Wow, so your like rich?
Erika: umm no it’s Kalim who has the money but I manage his money. Basically I’m his banker
Bantum : cool *leans toward Kalim *
Kalim: I’ll never let you mooch off me you idiot!
Erika: we're really sorry to storm in on you guys…. Hey how bout Kalim buys us all hot cocoa’s?
Anica: fine by me
Kalim mutters: yeah if its my money how come she always spends it?

Everyone has cocoa and there in no more snow out side but it rains steadily Erika now sits beside Anica and Kalim sits with Bantum.
Anica: I just about forgot this is Bantum.
Bantum : You forgot me? *pouty face* that’s not nice!!!!!
Erika: so where are you guys going?
Anica: Iiverrts high… I’m not sure where it is but I know its gotta be warmer than where we come from.
Erika: Iiverrts! Us too! This is great!
Kalim : God will you guy stop talking!
Erika: Kalim, what’s your problem now?
Kalim : I’m board and Bantum here wont stop pestering me with questions!
Erika: Kalim, if, your, that, friggen, board. GO BUY ME THINGS!
Kalim : I’m not that board yet!
Erika: Then shut up. *to Anica* this is one of the days he’s being nice.
Anica: Oh
*Anica pulls a pad of paper from her bag and starts sketching as Erika makes conversation*

Lydia and Gwen’s compartment Lydia is snoring on the floor. Little bits of sandwich wrapper an candy wrapper's lay beside her. Gwen stares out the window.
Gwen: If only you where here father. If only you didn’t go to war, if only mother hadn’t left us, if only she loved us enough father
If only…*Lydia wakes*
Lydia: are we there yet?
Gwen pick’s up her book: no
Lydia: how about now?
Gwen: *twitch* no
Lydia: How about …
Gwen: no, no, no
Lydia: I was just going to say I think we’re here
Gwen: we are not there yet got it!
Conductor opens the door: Iiverrts?
Gwen sighs: I guess we’re here.
Lydia: yipeeeeeeeee

Inside the gates, there are kids all over
Military leader: the lodging list is posted out side of every area.
Anica: I hope we’re all in the same room.
Erika: me too! If not we’ll find you later.
Bantum : deal! *they part and Erica wanders over to find Kalim. Bantum, and Anica wander away*
Anica thought bubble- I wonder who those too are. She seems so nice yet there's something missing.
Lydia: Ahhh my foot fell asleep on the train. It hurts! Gwen! It hurts!
*Anica turns and see’s a boy with short cut brown hair and the same eyes as her. She runs to
him*
Anica: Jason! *she hugs him*
Jason: Who the hell are you wentch!
Anica: Its me Anica! ..... Jason?
Jason: I don’t care how you know my name, just get away from me!
Anica starts to cry
Jason: don’t cry it makes you look ugly!
Anica: you really don’t remember me?
*seen flashes back to Anica, her family and Jason in a airport
Jason: I love you Anica
Anica hugs him
Anica: do you have to leave?
Jason: yes
Anica: I love you too!
Jason: See yah kiddo

Anica: I’m sorry I thought you were some
one else.
Jason: Well don’t make that mistake again.
Anica: yes sir
*she wanders off to find her lodgings.
Lydia: Its sure been a boring day.
Gwen: We are lucky to be in the same room
Lydia: Look, we can see the boys dorm from here *she waves*
Gwen screeches: mouse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *jumps on bed She screams more and Bantum jumps threw the window to see what’s wrong*
Bantum : what’s wrong? I heard a fair maiden scream
Lydia: She just saw a little…
Bantum : m-m-mouse!!!!
Bantum : Ahhhhhhhhhh *jumps on top of the bed with Gwen, Lydia grabs it by the tail Bantum and Gwen faint. Lydia drops it and picks it up again Bantum and Gwen jump back on the bed*
Lydia: Your so cute!
Gwen: Ewwwww, Lydia that’s discusting!
Lydia makes kissy lips: I’m gunna call you…..

Bantum : eeeeeek get it out, get it out! *Lydia runs around the room trying to catch the butterfly, Anica bangs the door open.*
Anica: what is going on here!

Lydia: reaches out and the mouse lands in her hand. *she sits and strokes it, Bantum sits with Gwen rocking back and forth, Anica stands in the door doubled over laughing*

*Erika checks over her shoulder and starts walking to a building with the name wardens office on it she push’s open the door and walks inside she faces the back of a chair*
Mans voice: get out of my office!
Erika: first you say to report emidetly to you now your saying you want me to leave?
Mans voice: Oh its you, captain Erica. Have you found the fire child and his demented
creator sage?
Erika: no I was given 1 years leave so I could pursue my studies.
Man: Oh yes I forget sometimes that you are only 16.
Erika: um sir?
Man: yes?
Erika: I’m 14
Man: right well be off with you
Erika: yes sir
Man: of before you leave try to remember to stop in and see Sara.
Erika: who is Sara?
Man: my daughter she’s about your age now I think she gets lonely.
Erika: Why? There are plenty of children out here.
Man: you’d be surprised they don’t stay long
Erika: wh… *she is interrupted by a knock on the door a tall man strides in and Erika
slinks away*

Kay so this is a manga script and the artist just hasn't finnised well started but I though you might like to read the script.
